Best Glass Replacement/Windows (Residential) 2020

One errant stone or a single malicious or clumsy lunkhead can shatter your day and your home or storefront window. Let Solano Glass save your day when a pane of glass becomes a pain in the glass.

Solano Glass Company, located off Air Base Parkway and Clay Bank Road, has been serving Solano County residents and businesses for more than six decades.

While six decades may seem like ancient history for many, even something as timeless as the basic technology of window glass has changed over time.

“All new windows in residential and commercial (buildings) have to meet strict criteria for Title 24 with extreme low-e glass products and thermally broken systems. These items definitely help with lower energy costs,” Curt Branson says.

Title 24 has to do with state building code regulations and requirements for saving energy by requiring all windows meet specified criteria.

Solano Glass Company specializes in many different types of glass, including glass for storefronts, residential windows, mirrors, shower doors, screens, and patio doors. They are also specialists in the state regulations that many homeowners and business owners would find boggling.

One way the Solano Glass Company’s business has changed is they do not do as much on-site glass cutting and window framing.

“We do less fabrication due to competitive fabrication companies,” Branson, a 1976 Fairfield High graduate, says. “Also a lot of manufacturers deliver products directly to a job site.”

As it has been for years, Solano Glass Company is voted “A+” by the Better Business Bureau. This is the seventh consecutive year the longtime local business has been recognized by Daily Republic readers as tops in their industry.

Solano Glass Company, like a lot of construction and building businesses, has faced challenges with the shifting national economic conditions. But it has weathered the storm and Branson’s guess for the future local economy is good.

“I see it as positive. People want to save energy and go green. This enhances the market and gives to the economic trends. We can expect this to continue in the future.”

The company does everything glass except auto glass, which it stopped doing more than 20 years ago in 1996.
